petermorwood: (Squeak in Box)

I'VE never been disturbed by a delivery of milk before. This morning's is an exception.

That's creepy enough. The use-by date made it much worse.

Not shopped in any way.  And no further comment required from me.

Ouch! It took me a few seconds to get it...

It took me a second to get it too: the shadows were ringing a "that looks familiar somehow" bell, but it took bending over to pick up the cartons and seeing the date that prompted my "Oh crikey..." response.

Diane got it first time - but then she's a New Yorker, and she's already fed up with (and avoiding) all the documentaries, retrospectives and 10th anniversary stuff on TV. Remembering is one thing, but too many look and sound like the televised picking of scabs.

Televised, printed, interwebbed...yeah, I see her point all too well. Not to mention the promotion of pet ideologies about How We Must Remember That Day...aaugh. I've not a hope in any afterlife of avoiding the proselytising, though.

I agree with Diane.

Especially when I read a couple of days ago that they haven't even gotten a memorial up at the Pennsylvania site; it's never been funded.

Not that the Pentagon or the NYC site don't deserve one-they do.

But the Pennsylvania site needs a memorial because they realized what was happening and gave their lives to prevent further destruction.

Ouch indeed. A small fraction of a second, here. As for the use-by date...

Um, yeah. In a novel, this would involve a milkman with a weirdly dark sense of humor.

Umm. Yes. I didn't even need to see the second picture.
